MODERN MEDICINE, COYOTE WISDOM:
THE POWER OF STORIES IN MEDICAL PRACTICE
Lewis Mehl-Madrona MD, PhD
February 3, 2005
7-9 PM
How can conventionally trained health care providers learn to hear the story of illness that their patients are living in a way that opens new options of well-being? How might this impact the relationship between caregiver and patient and inspire the patient's power of self-healing? Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD, and Native American healing elder, will address these questions and share empowering stories of healing drawn from his 30 years in both conventional and native medical practice.
Dr. Mehl-Madrona is board-certified in family practice, geriatrics and psychiatry and holds a PhD in clinical psychology. He is coordinator of integrative psychiatry at the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona and project coordinator for the Center for Biofield Science. He is author of three books Coyote Medicine, Coyote Healing and the forthcoming Coyote Wisdom (November 2004).
